The start of a new week is here (well isn't that the case for every Sunday)? But it is also the end of the weekend and we all know how fast those go by.... but needless to say, whether it is Sunday or any other day, are you taking the time to really rest, reset and recharge? Many of us just keep on going with work, social life, etc. in fact, I am one of them! Working an average of 50+ hours a week certainly keeps me busy and out of trouble (not that I would get in any, I promise)---but if there is one thing that I never forget to do every week, is that of taking a day to really spend time with myself and doing the things I love to do. Whether it is blogging for you all or whether it is picking up a new book or spending time outside with nature, there is something that I always have to do that would bring me peace, relaxation and calmness in my busy life. Here is the thing, there is no right time to do it, you just have to make the time to do it! The number of people who actually take a self care day is dropping year by year. In fact, more concerns are raised about stress, mental health issues, headaches, lack of sleep, etc. How can we help take preventative measures for our own sake to live a better, happier and healthier life?
I want you to take a few moments to answer the following questions and take a moment to reflect on what some of your responses may be:
Do you sleep more than 8+ hours of sleep?
Do you like to read? If so, when was the last time you picked up a book?
Has there been a day this past week that you have gone without watching television?
When was the last time you took a few moments to be grateful for everything around you?
Have you practiced any mindfulness eating?
When was the last time you laughed so hard?
When was the last time you slept in?
When was the last time you got a massage? Spa?
The list of questions goes on and on but I would like to invite you to really take a moment to connect with yourself, really determine what is it that your mind needs? your body? your emotions? Spend time with those you love being around with, spend time exploring things you love to do and overall spend time with yourself alone. You will not only feel better but you will continue to learn more about yourself and love yourself just a little more every time! Ease your mind, ease your body and know that anything you may be going through shall pass and anything that you weren't able to do yesterday, you can do today! Keep on smiling and know that everything on this earth is a gift for you to enjoy and to help you live a better, healthier and happier life!
