Rising Above the Circumstances

Have you ever felt like you just couldn't take it anymore? Anything and everything was overwhelming you, making you sick, giving you headaches, non-stop tears and heartaches? Have you ever experienced moments where you just felt like you were holding the weight of the world and just wanted to hide in a corner and let everything pass you by? I have been there many times before. In fact, sometimes, I just felt like I wanted to run out yelling into the streets because the feeling of desperation empowered me. I didn't know why, or how I would get feeling better from moments like these. I felt like my world was crumbling and I had no control over my thoughts, feelings and emotions. But, what I failed to mention was that this was ME years ago.

Everything was a routine. Getting up every morning and doing the same thing over and over again was how I used to live my life. I knew what the day ahead of me consisted of and it was not something I was looking forward to. In fact, there were plenty of days where I didn't even want to get up. Was I battling depression? Was I miserable? What was causing this feeling? It wasn't until my graduate years of school that I realized that I was not living with purpose. In fact, I let my circumstances take over me and they certainly made me sick to my stomach. But yet how many people in today's world are going through something similar?

Here is the problem, not many people know how to define their purpose. In fact, not many know how to identify their purpose. We keep asking ourselves questions like why why why..... why did this happen to me? Why is he/she being like that with me? Why did I not get accepted into this job position? Why won't he/she date me? Isn't it easier to blame something or someone else for what we can be held accountable for? It sure is. In fact, that was how I personally used to escape my feelings of frustration. I wanted things my way and I wanted them now. It was in moments like these where everything imaginable went wrong. Then I knew that it was time to turn the wheel and take control of my life. If you can relate to any of the above, there is one thing that I want you to know.... you are NOT ALONE. Many of us experience ongoing thoughts and feelings like these that we simply don't share. I used to think, why should I be talking about this to someone when in fact it is embarrassing, it is not something to be proud of and I should know how to manage my life. I was certainly hard on myself and not allowing myself to feel and grow from these experiences. It almost seemed like I was punishing myself for the way I was feeling.

Living with purpose isn't an easy path to find. In fact, it has been one of the most challenging ones to encounter BUT it has certainly been the path for which I have discovered who I am, what I am all about and how I want to be towards myself and to others. I have allowed all these negative emotions and thoughts to dissipate and I have allowed myself to take control over my feelings. For me, it has been a path to freedom, it has been a path to finding my happiness and it has been a path for which has made me stronger. I have turned to myself for many things, circumstances and decisions in my life for which has allowed me to help others, inspire others and encourage one another so that we are on the path of living our best life. Do you have a purpose? Absolutely! Do you have what it takes to rise above all circumstances and be the best version of yourself? Of course! Do you have the strength and courage to admit to yourself that you can improve? Yes, yes and yes!

To create change, all it takes is a decision. You need to decide and come to terms with what is stopping you from living your best life now. You need to realize that without change, there is no growth. Why live a life with a routine when you are meant for bigger and better things? You are meant to be challenged and meant to step out of your comfort zone so you can allow yourself to be who you are meant to be. Living on and with purpose will help you rise above all your circumstances. You are meant to be happy, to live fully and to create the life you wish to live. Don't let circumstances bring you down and most importantly, don't let your own self bring you down. Rise above and watch your world change!
