Doing What You Want

Ayn Rand once said, "do not allow your fire to go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is yours." This quote reflects what today many of us are experiencing with the unknown. We simply don't know what to do or what direction to take. We know we have to do something in order to provide for ourselves, our families, etc. but oftentimes, it is not something that certainly ignites our spark. Life passes us by each and every day and whether we are living it with purpose, well, that is our choice. Ultimately, we all have a purpose to fulfill in this life and we all carry that spark within us as Ayn Rand explains.

However, in the midst of it all, life happens, circumstance rise and it is so easy to get influenced by what is going on around us. And of course, if you are like me, we put others first and other circumstances first, before our needs and heart's deepest desires. And so, that little spark that we have about doing our calling or doing what we want or love to do continuously gets dimmed or set aside. When will it be time to listen to our hearts? When will it be time to listen to our soul's calling? The time is NOW. I know that we can build a list of excuses as to why we aren't living the life we desire, (trust me I have done this to myself), but ultimately, what we are creating is a life that we aren't happy with. We wake up each and every day to fulfill a routine and the question is for whom? for what? why? Chances are, we are waking up to a list of things to do that will always favor others except for ourselves. This is the time to reflect, to sit back and think about what drives that soul light within us? What would make it/us happy? What ignites our passion within us? When you have answers to those questions, my advice to you is to pursue them. Few people always go after what is best for them and after what they want. It is those people that ultimately end up living their best life, rich in happiness and rich in mindset. How would you like to be an example for others?
